I may not talk about it much on here, but yes I am Canadian. Go ahead break out the stereotype. I’ll just be sitting in my igloo watching some hockey. How aboot that eh? Well actually since I’m on the west coast only the hockey part applies….ok and maybe the occasional eh, but I don’t notice it.
Don’t worry, I’m not about to make Modest Money all Canadian focused talking about RRSPs, government healthcare or the pathetically low Canadian dollar. Since most of the traffic on my blog is from the US, I’ll do what I can to keep you happy.
One exception is the annual Canadian finance blogs polls I host. For the past 2 years I have hosted polls to ask visitors which Canadian finance blogs are their favourites. You can see the original 2012 and 2013 polls to see who was up for vote. Or you can skip straight to the winners for 2012 and 2013.
Basically I’m doing my part to give some credit to the best Canadian finance blogs and also give some exposure to the lessor known Canadian blogs. It’s also been a great excuse for me to reach out to those bloggers and get to know them a little better.
Altruistic motives aside, it also helps get some extra traffic on my blog. Then again, I don’t think most people mind me getting a small benefit for organizing these polls. Well, there is one blogger who was pretty bitter about it, but I suspect she was just annoyed that she wasn’t getting votes. Maybe the truth hurts.
The 2014 version of this poll will be starting in early February. I know there are some new Canadian finance blogs on the scene though. Or there may be some that you know are no longer active. I need your help to make this year’s poll complete before it launches.
So if you know of any new blogs to add or anything to change, please let me know in the comments below or via e-mail. Thank you for your help!
