End of April Blog Update 45 Comments
I’ll start off with a personal update on the job front. I didn’t officially land a job yet, but there were some very positive developments. More than one company actually expressed interest in hiring me. That felt pretty satisfying even if I don’t end up working for either company.
After meeting with both companies in person, we’re going back and forth further discussing the opportunity and what I’d want out of it. Hopefully this leads to a job with one of them, but if not I’m confident that I will find something else.
This has got me thinking more of what going back to work would mean for this blog. I don’t intend to be one of the bloggers who just puts his blog completely on hold when getting a job. I plan to keep on blogging, but I’ll have to figure out a new marketing routine. Most likely I will have to cut back on commenting on other blogs. So if I don’t drop by your blog, please don’t take it personally. You’re welcome to reach out to me to discuss other ways we can help each other out.
As for blog stats, I dropped another 10K on my alexa rank. I’m happy to see that it continues to drop as I was really expecting it to go back in the other direction very soon. Maybe that’s still coming soon. Who knows? Alexa rankings aren’t super important to me anyway. It’s kinda motivating to see it drop, but I’m under no illusion that it’s anything crucial.
Facebook likes continues to creep up slowly and it’s now over 800. Since I don’t even know that many people, it’s a cool number. I thought that would start dropping too, but a lot of blogging friends have been nice enough to help out.
Twitter followers is growing each week too. It’s currently at 357 followers. I think I’m gradually learning how to get more out of twitter, but I still feel like I’m not taking full advantage of what can be done on there.
If any of you are on Google+, let’s connect on there too. I admit I’m still putting off getting active there, but some more love may be the motivation I need.
I’ve also been pretty happy about the steady growth of rss subscribers. The numbers are obviously still pretty low compared to the popular blogs out there, but having anyone consistently following along makes me feel warm and fuzzy inside.
So if you like my blog or just want to help me out, it would be awesome if you could follow/like/subscribe. You’d make my day. And if you don’t I am going to spend the day wallowing is self pity. So the choice is yours
