This week was supposed to be my first week back to work after my vacation to Mexico. As luck would have it, it wasn’t a full week.
I didn’t get extra days off for being such a good employee. Nope, I got hit by the flu on Tuesday. So on Wednesday and Thursday I stayed home to rest up and do a bit of work from home. Well I didn’t get as much work done as I had hoped since I was pretty drained and had a constant headache. So it was mostly just resting up.
Provided I’m feeling better today I’ll be back in the office again. At least I was able to do plenty of good work on Monday and Tuesday which got the ball rolling on a few projects. If it wasn’t for that I’d be more concerned about their marketing momentum sliding, especially since I was just away from the office for a week.
Unfortunately this prevented me from getting all caught up on my blog work too. So as I was laying on the couch, my inbox was filling up and comments were going unanswered. Guess who has some more work to catch up on this weekend?

Apparently being away for a week didn’t slow down the mentions on other blogs much. Thank you everyone.

Sounds like you and I got something very similar Jeremy and right at the same time too. Today is the first day where I feel like I am getting back to normal. I normally don’t get sick much, but this one sucked. I am hoping to get caught up today so I don’t have to over the weekend. Have a good one!

I likely caught my cold/flu while flying back home from Mexico. So it was probably one that is spreading around a lot. This one was worse than the normal running nose and coughing. I even had to take today off to fully recover. Hope you’re back to normal soon too.
I hope you feel better man! At least the flu hit when you got back and not when you were in Mexico…

For sure. It wouldn’t be much fun to be away on vacation with a constant headache and lack of energy. So I am lucky about that.
Ugh that stinks that you got sick right after your vacation! Hope you feel 100% better soon.

It probably happens to a lot of people. Airports and planes are probably some of the best places to catch a cold. I think I’m starting to get better but the symptoms seem to come in waves throughout the day. Oh well, at least I’ll have the full weekend to get better now.
I’m sure those flu germs were just circulation on the plane. Glad you’re feeling better. I hope it passes me by.

Yup, I completely agree. When you’re breathing the same air as everyone on the plane for hours, cold viruses are bound to spread. My girlfriend managed to avoid it, but I don’t think she was using the overhead fan on the plane.
From what I have heard about the flu bug this winter you are lucky that you were only out of work for two days. Some people are getting it much worse. Glad you’re feeling better.

Well it’s up to 3 days now, but I feel like I’m closer to normal now. That is until I get up and try to go somewhere likely. Luckily I have a very understanding boss and I have the ability to do some work from home.
Thanks for the mention! I also got hit with the flu a few weeks ago. I had to take a couple days off. At first I was like, “yay i’ll get to blog and play COD.” Instead I rested and tried to get work done. My eyes were to tired for anything more than an eye of COD a day. Hope you’re feeling better and back to work!

I was getting the tired eyes thing too which probably led to some oversleeping as I was resting. Cool to hear you play COD. I haven’t got around to playing the new one yet, but maybe I’ll find some time for that this weekend.
I hadn’t played and actually didn’t own an xbox since 2009. I don’t find this new one to be as good as MW2 but it’s still fun. There’s one map where you’re on a boat and it’s so fast paced that it’s my fav.

I’ve found all of the COD’s to be pretty enjoyable. Since I don’t play many games at all these days, I’m sure it’ll be pretty fun. I’m just hesitant to get online and get schooled by a bunch of pre-teens.
I hope you feel better Jeremy! Sorry you were sick, probably the shock in temperature with Mexico didn’t do you well. PS you were in my Friday recap last week as well

If it was hotter in Mexico that would probably be the case, but instead it was probably someone else sick passing on their germs on the plane. I think I linked back to that post last week, but I’ll be sure to include you in my post tomorrow. Thanks Pauline.
Man, this flu is taking everyone down. Sorry to hear about you being sick. I know what you mean with falling behind. I appreciate the mention and I hope you have a productive weekend.

Thanks Grayson. It does sound like it was a rough flu season with lots of hospitals actually running out of flu shots. I never really take those anyway.
Glad you are feeling better. I got hit with my quadennial flu just before the end of the year.

Thanks Edward. I have no idea what the quadennial flu is but it sounds rough.
Haha. That just means that I get it every 4 years.

Yuck! I hate the flu. hope you’re feeling better soon! I’m concerned with getting it because now I have a 1-year-old in the house, and I’d rather sleep in the car then have him get it. Here’s to hoping!
Jacob @ iheartbudgets recently posted..How I Saved $300,000
That would make flu season a lot scarier. The worst part is that apparently you are most contagious before you even start showing symptoms. So by the time you start sleeping in the car it might be too late and he might have caught it already.
I’m starting to think you and John @ Frugal Rules are the same person. 2 ultra successful blogs and now you both have the flu, think I’m onto something here! Hope you’re feeling better soon mate.

lol nice theory Adam. I do sometimes wonder if anyone out there has more than one blog running under different aliases. It’d be an interesting tactic, but personally I think it would be more advantageous to be able to use existing contacts to promote both blogs.
My husband had the flu this week too and had to miss 2 days of work and then fly to Vagas for a meeting on the third day of being sick. It just is going around I guess. You will get caught up soon. I bet the extra rest was nice.

That’s too bad that he had to jump on a plane while still recovering from the flu. With the headaches this flu was giving me I wouldn’t have wanted to fly anywhere. Hopefully he was getting over it by then.
Hope you’re feeling better Jeremy.
Maybe it’s just a let down from your great vaca
Rest up and thanks for the mention.

Maybe I was just rubbing in the Mexico trip too much and this was some karma. Sure I got to go on an awesome vacation, but now I’ve been putting up with this.
Manflu was BAD this year… took me out for a whole week! Hope you are fully recovered already!

Well it wasn’t quite a full week for me. I’m definitely back to work tomorrow, but it was some pretty rough days.
