Well normally I try to do these update posts towards the end of the week. Lately I’ve just been trying to figure out how much time I can commit to this blog and still maintain balance in other areas of my life. I’ll try to establish a more consistent posting schedule soon.
If you want to help out and get some exposure for your blog, I’d be happy to accept guest posts. I would definitely return the favor any way I can.
There’s nothing new to report on the job front. I should be meeting up with one of my previous employers sometime this week to discuss an opportunity though. Fortunately I’m having a good month for commission on my other websites. That does relieve some pressure to get a job right away.
Favorite Blog Posts This Week
I didn’t get a chance to share my favorite blog posts in my update last week. So this list may be a bit long as I give props to a bunch of my blogger friends.

What are some of your favorite personal finance blogs? Any good ones that I should add to my weekly reading?

Thanks for the mention!
Glad to hear things are still going pretty well for you with your other ventures
Good luck on the employment front–hopefully those connections will pan out for you!
Frugal Fries recently posted..Weekly Expense Report (March 17 – March 23 2012)
No problem Tess. I’ve been enjoying your blog so far. So I’m glad to share it with others.
I do hope I can take care of my job situation this week. It would relieve a lot of the financial stress. While my other websites are doing well this month I am due for a big tax bill towards the end of April.
Thanks for the mention, Jeremy! You’ll find your balance. Sometimes it just takes awhile to get into the groove of things.
Daisy recently posted..I Got The Job!
No problem Daisy. It will be nice to get back into the groove of things. I love managing this blog, but the low income is a bummer.
Good luck with your meeting this week! It’s nice that you have the additional income though…so important to have multiple streams of revenue!
Thanks for the inclusion by the way!
WorkSaveLive recently posted..Reader’s Question – Walking Through the Coaching Process
For sure, the multiple income streams does help a lot during times like this. The only part that sucks is that I never get to qualify for the employment insurance benefits. It will be even nicer when those extra income streams are on top of a full time income.
Good luck with your employer meeting! And thanks for the mention this week!
MyMoneyDesign recently posted..Which is Better – Term or Permanent Life Insurance? – Part 1
Thanks and you’re welcome! The meeting should go well. That employer is my age and we’ve known each other for quite a while.
Hey Jeremy! Thanks so much for the include!
I hope you are able to sort out your job situation this week. I know how stressful that can be. Best of luck!
Anytime Sicorra! Yes the uncertainty of not having a full time income does wear on the nerves. It’ll be nice to get some extra money in the bank again soon.
Juggling the blog/life/and work, all while trying to avoid spilling my beer, is a difficult endeavor for me, so I completely feel your pain.
AverageJoe recently posted..The Worst of the Free Financial Advisor Podcast: Print Edition
lol at the beer spilling. I guess most bloggers have to face similar juggling acts. Unless you’re lucky enough to be making full-time money from a blog, you inevitably have to balance it with a job and also fit in time for a life.
Appreciate the mention. How is the slower schedule treating you? I did a similar thing last week since I was on vacation, set the posts up and let them go. I didn’t have much time to go back and track things or comment. Did you feel that you missed anything, or was it just a nice break?
CultOfMoney recently posted..Anyone contributing directly to a Roth IRA is stupid
No problem Karl. The slower schedule does give me more breathing room, but I found that after a few days I still ended up balancing that out with a lot of commenting on other blogs. We’ll see how I can manage that once I go back to a daytime job.
Thanks so much for mentioning David’s post. Congrats on all of the mentions. That is great.
Good luck with the job hunt. Hoping the best for you.
Miss T @ Prairie EcoThrifter recently posted..7 Reasons Why Failure is a Good Thing
Thanks Miss T. Yes there were quite a few mentions lately. I wasn’t really expecting that with the reduced posting frequency. Maybe that just freed up time for me to network more effectively.
Guest posts definitely help with balance. I have a couple lined up for this week thankfully.
Well hopefully I get some interest there. I do realize that a lot of people won’t be interested due to the young age of my blog.
Best of luck on the job search. Having no time-crunch could be a good way to help you find something you really like.
Hunter – Financially Consumed recently posted..Install Your Own Toilet And Save Money
That’s one way of looking at it. Unfortunately there’s not a lot to choose from in my industry. It’s basically a choice between two former employers.
Thanks for the mention. Hope you had a great day!
Kraig @ Young, Cheap Living recently posted..Weekend Personal Finance Reading, Young Adult Edition
No problem Kraig. Keep up the good work on your blog.
First time commenting! I’ve been enjoying these link round-ups lately, and I’ve already read most of these and loved them so great choices
It definitely is difficult to find a balance with blogging, working full-time, and having a life. I have been studying for the LSAT as well and sometimes I’m not sure how I do it. It’s all about balance! Towards the end of last year I was killing myself by just studying and working, but I made a commitment to myself that I would fit in everything I enjoy doing so that I don’t go crazy and get tons of breakdowns again. So even though I’m at work, I’ll make time to go to the gym at lunch, walk the dog after work, eat dinner with the BF, and study at night. I hope this helps motivate you find your balance, and sorry for the long comment!
From Shopping to Saving recently posted..Personal Finance & Video Games – Call of Duty: Black Ops Zombies
Haha some of you hard working people really make me feel like a pansy for complaining about being overwhelmed with the work of managing a blog. I don’t know how people are able to run a blog while also working a full time job and studying. I guess I just have to make sure to find time in my schedule for whatever is a priority for me. I’m sure I can cut back on the less productive things in my life and still be happy.
Btw I’d be interested in guest posting. I love to write and I’m willing to write for anyone haha. Let me know what kinds of topics you’d be interested in posting and I’ll pitch some ideas.
From Shopping to Saving recently posted..Personal Finance & Video Games – Call of Duty: Black Ops Zombies
No problem Erika. I just sent you an e-mail with more details. I’d be happy to have guest posts from other bloggers. It’s sure to help me with balancing my time more. I’d make it worth your time too.
Crying for not being included. Jk those are some great posts. I hope you are finding the right mix and you will be able to continue blogging once you get a full time gig. Here is usually how my night goes now. First i put my kids to sleep, then i put my wife to sleep, then i stay up about 3 more hours for blog time. You will find the right mix
Christopher @ This That and The MBA recently posted..Monday edition of the Five for Friday, Weekend Recap or whatever you want to call it!
Oops, I knew I would still manage to somehow miss including one or two of the blogs I regularly read. I should have noticed that when I tweeted one of your posts today. My apologies Christopher. I’ll be sure to include one of your posts in next week’s roundup. I hope that will stop the flow of tears
It is a lot easier to be productive when everyone else is sleeping. I find my most productive time is right in the morning while it’s still relatively quiet.
haha no worries…im just messing….it is easiest to work when it is quiet….i just wake up like a zombie sometimes. i noticed you dont have an about page? Where abouts are you located just geographic area, for some reason I want to think you are located in texas, but then I thought i saw a post where it mentioned being canadian?
Christopher @ This That and The MBA recently posted..Monday edition of the Five for Friday, Weekend Recap or whatever you want to call it!
What?! So you weren’t really crying over me forgetting to include your blog?
Seriously though, I meant to include your blog but somehow missed it when scanning through the list of blogs that I subscribe to.
Yes I am Canadian. I’m just outside of Vancouver. Not sure how you missed the about page though….I even have linked from both the header and footer. All those tears must’ve been blurring your vision.
Best of luck with the meetings, Jeremy! And thanks for the shout out. Great to be called out here

Nick recently posted..Best way to spend $20 – and a call to action!
Thanks Nick. My bank account appreciates people wishing me luck. And no problem including one of your posts here, even though you’re a Bruins fan.
Haha! It’s OK. We can all be friends off the ice!
Nick recently posted..Best way to spend $20 – and a call to action!
I don’t think everyone shares those sentiments with the riots here after the Bruins beat the Canucks into the ice. In your case though I’ll overlook your poor taste in sports teams lol. I think this is the year to switch your allegiance over to NY. I think Boston’s brief sports dominance is coming to an end.
haha my shitty work laptop doesn’t fully load the pages. They give us junk to work with and expect us to perform magical financial analysis. I went onto my home computer with firefox and saw it at the top.
Christopher @ This That and The MBA recently posted..Monday edition of the Five for Friday, Weekend Recap or whatever you want to call it!
I’ll have to add a disclaimer: Warning this blog may not properly load on a shitty laptop.
With the low prices of laptops you’d think they would just upgrade those. Some employers can be quite tight with their money though.
Thanks for those nice links, now I have a lot to read!!!
Ella recently posted..Maternity leave in Norway: a blessing
No problem Ella. Enjoy the reading.

Thanks for all the links…look forward to checking them out!
femmefrugality recently posted..Budgeting for Gasoline
Tell me about it. It’s not just the posting though. Before you get into blogging you don’t fully appreciate everything that is involved with maintaining the blog and doing promotion.
Very nice posts shared. Thanks
You’re welcome Karunesh.
Thanks for the mention!
Also good luck with your job hunt.
No problem Eddie. I appreciate the help that you provided early on.
Good luck with the upcoming prospects. Thanks for the mention, my friend.
John | Married (with Debt) recently posted..Have Free Banking Accounts Gone the Way of the Dinosaur?
Thanks John. And no problem mentioning your blog. You’re doing a really good job with it so far.
You might be better off with the reduced frequency as some people believe the 80/20 rule applies to blogging. 20% on site content and 80% off site marketing. And thanks so much for the mention!
Money Infant recently posted..Living Like a King in Bangkok
Good point about the 80/20 rule. I notice that some bloggers haven’t really learned that and focus mostly on their own blog. Then there are the ones that are already so well established that they no longer need to do much offsite work. Thanks for the advice Steve.
i like to think that even if our site took off, we would still take the time to interact with others. talking to you all is one of the best parts of this community..
good luck with your meeting with a previous employer.. i am sure that you left on good terms, which is a great thing to have in your pocket when you need it!
and also, thanks for the mention!
jefferson recently posted..7 Ways to Pass the Time at Your Kid’s Soccer Practice
No problem Jefferson. I agree that the interaction with bloggers make this venture a lot more enjoyable. It makes it a lot easy to continue on even knowing that it will be quite some time until it is profitable.
