Wow this week absolutely flew by. Now that it’s been such nice weather up here, I’ve been spending more time outdoors and working hard the rest of the time. I know that if I keep working hard now it should pay off going forward.
I’ve been getting good feedback on my blogging tips series, such as my latest post about Optimizing Blog Loading Time. So for the foreseeable future I will be continuing that series. It looks like I’ll be covering keyword research next week which is something I have a ton of experience with.
I enjoy busting out the nerd lingo and it’s satisfying knowing I’m helping my blogger friends. It’s really reminded me about the importance of cooperation with blog marketing. The more we keep helping each other, the better we’ll all do.
So the next time someone helps you out, see how you can return the favor. Like if someone provides some good blogging tips, be sure to link to them and share the posts on social networking sites
I’m kidding though…you don’t owe me anything. Still it would be a good idea to share the tips with your other blogging friends. It’ll just help you more in the long run.
In other blog news, I’d like to really thank Steve from CanadianPersonalFinance.com for his recent guest post Take Advice From Personal Finance Bloggers With A Gain Of Salt. It really sparked some interesting comments.
If anyone is interested in guest posting I’ve gone back to accepting 2 every week.
So check out my guest posting policy and give me a shout.

Yup some vitamin D and exercise goes a long ways. We have to make up for a poor start to the summer around here.
As for that photo, it would’ve been a lot better if I had any kind of photography skills and a decent camera.
Oh, yeah! I forgot it’s Friday the 13th. I have no superstitions but I’m covering for 2 people on vacation at work today and trying to juggle my own work, so hopefully it’s not too busy. If it is I’ll know what to blame it on.

Ouch, yeah I’m sure you’ll be pretty busy if you’re doing 3 people’s jobs today. I guess that reflects on how much your supervisor trusts you. Don’t worry about the superstitious day too much though or else it’s bound to lead to bad things.
I look forward to the keyword research article. I don’t do any of that yet and know I need to start.

In all honesty I don’t do much keyword research for this blog yet either. I’ll explain why in the post though. Different bloggers need to take different approaches based on their overall plan.
I’m also looking forward to keyword research post. Have a great weekend! Now for my superstitions on Friday 13th–I always watch a scary movie or two. ALWAYS. I think it keeps the monsters under my bed and in my closet right where they are at
.

Well in that case you might not even need to give in to your boyfriend’s Chinese food craving. Enjoy your scary movie or two and have a good weekend.
The blog has been picking up pace and I’ve developed some great social media relationships with a few big Banking/CD Rate blogs that tweet out my posts and I have been getting good traffic from those tweets.
My organic results are continuing to climb and I’m going to try to focus more on SEO targeted posts. I can’t say I know a lot about it but I think I’m doing the right things. We’ll know in a few months I guess. Yesterday my organic results were around 80 from Big G which is up a bit from the last few months (but still not where it was prior to the Penguin update).

Nice work Jason. Glad to hear that those corporate relationships are helping out. I should probably pursue those more since they usually have a large following.
If you ever have any questions about SEO, you know who to ask. There are certain things you need to do right, but mainly it’s about building up a strong link profile for your blog.
The weather has been amazing so I agree with Steve. Get outside and enjoy it. We are headed camping again this weekend which is always fun.
I always try to help out fellow bloggers as much as I can. I never seem to have the time to help out as much as I want but I do try. The support feels great both ways.

Ooh camping, sounds like fun. I’ve been itching to go camping, but it’s tough to fit into a busy schedule. I totally feel like I never have enough time too. I think it’s about time to clone myself…that or adopt some kids that I can put to work in a little blog marketing sweatshop.
My palms have been itchy the last couple days, so I’ll be hopeful that money is on it’s way….but it’s probably more likely due to my having pulled weeds the other day with my delicate allergy-prone paws. Sigh. But it COULD be money…lol. Happy Friday, Jeremy!
Michelle recently posted..How to Turn Your Kids Into Olympic Athletes
lol let’s hope it’s money on the way lol. If it is, you’ll have to do some more weeding to get the itchy palms again. Enjoy your weekend Michelle.
Heck yes, getting outside in this weather has been awesome! Also, I’m definitely excited to read the keyword research article, because it is still a mystery to me. I use an SEO plugin, but don’t do any actual research to make it work better for me.
Have a great weekend, and enjoy this sunshine while it lasts.
Jacob @ iheartbudgets recently posted..Weekly Wrap-Up and What I’m Reading On the Web – 9
Just make sure you’re actually enjoying the sun and not just working your ass off overhauling your backyard. Before you know it summer will be over and you’ll have to wait until next year to enjoy the fruits of your labor.
We finally got some rain here in Colorado last weekend was nice. It helped to break the 100 degree temperatures. Now its back at normal in the low 90′s, perfect biking weather.
Funny when people say how nice some rain is. You’d never hear that in Vancouver. We get plenty of rain from fall to spring. So we have to enjoy all the sun while it sticks around.
This is the best summer so far. I pretty sure my tan got some work everyday. The keyword research article is going to be a hit, btw! Also, did you change the layout of your site a bit?
Marissa @ Thirtysixmonths recently posted..What Not To Do When You Land Your First Grown-up Job .
Out here in BC we only had the last couple weeks to work on our tans lol. Yeah the layout is changed a bit. I don’t think I like how wide stuff is below the sidebar though. So I’ll have to get my friend to change that.
My blog is picking up, slowly but surely. I must admit, I need to learn more what SEO can do for me. I’m not very savvy on that. It would be great to get to 1,000 subscriptions later this year, but it’s not everything. I run my site because I enjoy it and it’s a different domain than my “day job”. I hope it will always feel that way.
A downer of late is our Ottawa weather, it has been too hot and far too dry…no rain. We are in a drought for sure, and it could get very serious come later this month. I hope we get rain, lots of it, soon.
Take care, enjoy your weekend!
Mark

Getting to 1000 subscribers would be impressive. I’m happy with just barely over 100. I’ve got a long ways to go to catch up
If you need any help with SEO let me know. I could use some investing tips from you.
And yeah I heard about the Ottawa drought problem. Actually heard something about a forest fire threat close by. A lot of the places in the US where it was 100+ got some rain recently. So hopefully it heads your way.
I’ve really been enjoying the blogging tips series. When I started to transition my blog away from being about job searching, I knew I couldn’t write about PF topics all the time. That’s why I will sometimes review plugins or offer up that fix.
My traffic is slowly picking up. I think I need to get better at choosing topics that others want to read about instead of just what I want to write about.
It is interesting how blogs evolve from what you had originally planned. I have shifted away from just covering finance topics, but my half assed plan is to transition back as more of my traffic starts coming from search engines. I know they won’t be as interested in reading about blogging tips. For now though, while lots of my traffic is fellow bloggers, I might as well try to keep them interested.
Jeremy, I’m enjoying the blogging tips series. As a fairly new blogger I’ve learned quite a few tips & tricks from them. My blog traffic has really spiked in the last few weeks. I was included in Trent’s weekly roundup a few weeks back at The Simple Dollar, which drove a lot of traffic. And this week I’ve seem a big bump as well, mostly from search engines. I’m not sure what caused the sudden increase, but I also noticed this was my first week with a mozrank, so maybe that had something to do with it.
Justin @ The Family Finances recently posted..Friends of the Family: Hot Dog Roast Edition
Nope it wouldn’t be caused by the mozrank itself, but both the mozrank and google may have detected some good quality links. A link from The Simple Dollar or any other popular blog is sure to help in that regards. Keep up the great work Justin.
We finally started getting some nicer weather too, it’s about time. Hopefully it’ll stick around, especially since we’re moving in less than 2 weeks.

You’re just down the highway from me. So I’m sure we get pretty much the same weather. It has been pretty nice lately, although today looks like a good day to just stay inside and work. Good luck with the move.
