Check out my new guide for starting a blog to learn how to go about properly creating your own blog.

It’s time for my most popular post of the week, my blogging tips series.

It kinda makes me wonder whether I should’ve just created an internet marketing blog. I’d probably run out of topics too quick though. I couldn’t imagine trying to write hundreds of posts about such a limited topic.

Also it would be tough competing against all the marketing blogs out there. It’s much more satisfying to share these tips with the finance blogging community and be called a master lol. Plus I think I can be much more helpful to my blogging friends with this series.

Here are some blogging tips topics covered recently:

To Have or to Hold: The Pro and Cons of Investing in Real Estate (Either Directly or Indirectly)

The following is a guest post. If interested in submitting a guest post, please read my
guest posting policy and then contact me.

Thank you MM for the opportunity to write my first guest post.

Who am I? I’m a professional starving artist in both the music and photographic world trying to find financial freedom on a pauper’s income.

After many years of financial floundering I decided to take advantage of my time and start investing for my future. I would love to jump off on a tangent here and talk about how financial advisers aren’t in it for you (they are in it for themselves first,) but that would be a whole post unto itself. (Thankfully for you I’ve recently written one: http://thestarvingartistcanada.blogspot.ca/2012/08/financial-advisers-or-diy.html) But the long and the short of the matter is that for anybody who is not from old money the only way to financial freedom is through investing. Vehicle Insurance – Better Safe Than Sorry

Vehicle Insurance

I’m sure none of you are guilty of this, but amazingly some people take the risk of driving without insurance. I don’t know about other areas, but here in BC that is illegal…and a pretty dumb risk regardless where you live.

You may be the best driver, but with lots of bad drivers out there, some accidents are unavoidable. Someone else can run a red light. They can swerve into your lane while driving home from the bar. Or maybe they’ll tailgate so close that they can’t stop before rear-ending you. In times like that it doesn’t make much difference how good your driving skills are.

Then there are the times when you might just make an error in judgement yourself. It just takes a single split second decision to end up in a car accident. Most of us have probably driven when tired or with something important on our minds. Continue reading

Mid August 2012 Favorite Blog Posts

Upside Down Trip

I’m very happy with the number of blogs linking to Modest Money lately. Of course I wouldn’t complain if even more linked in. Obviously I’d make it worth your time. While I don’t always have time to comment back on all of your blogs, I do try to return favors any other way I can.

I know these lists may be a little long for some of you, but you do get the benefits of a temporary PR4 link…or two :) I’m sure a lot of the readers can attest to how helpful I try to be.

Every week there are a ton of great blog posts published. Here are some of my favorites from some of my blogger friends: Continue reading

Mid August 2012 Blog Update

Summer Lake Scene

Despite being super busy, summer is going very well this year. I’ve been taking advantage of my flexible job schedule to get out and enjoy the weather more.

Also I’ve been happy to see steady progress with this blog. A lot of the stats continue to improve. The Alexa Ranking did stall around 44k, but I have absolutely no problem with that. I’m just satisfied it hasn’t jumped back above 50k yet. The next step will be to do more link building for my first important affiliate page about credit card offers. Anybody want to earn a big return favor? ;)

My 6 month blogging anniversary giveaway ended at the beginning of this week and I was rather impressed by the results. That page got almost 900 tweets and received a large number of entries. A big part of that was the fellow bloggers who provided prizes. So thanks again to the following bloggers: Continue reading
