Cats on Bed

Ok now where was I when I left off yesterday….search engine problem, check….first potential new home viewing, check. Right…

How about I start with things on the job front. I have to say things have not gone smoothly with marketing my employer’s website. By now I really should have had their website fairly dominant in the search engines. It is doing quite well on Bing & Yahoo, but let’s be serious, that traffic is peanuts. Google progress on the other hand has been a long road with plenty of potholes.

Normally this would get a website marketer worried about his job, but really the problems have been out of my control for the most part. It’s primarily a mix of poor decisions by other people and a poorly optimized website that I don’t have access to repair myself. Luckily I’ve managed to convince my boss to bring on some outside help to fix the website. Then if all goes well, it’ll be smoothy sailing and lots of pats on the back. Or bonus checks will suffice rather than just back patting ;) Continue reading

End of February 2013 Blog Update

Well this has been an eventful week, not all of it good. Despite that I’m rolling with the punches and staying positive.

I debated with myself about whether I should publicly talk about one of the bad things that happened. I’ll just be a bit vague about the details. You can e-mail me if you want to know more. Basically I had a bit of a problem with a certain search engine. Some of you may know what that problem is. I’ve kept the search engine traffic and rankings, but the problem still affects business.

Since I’ve experienced this kind of thing with a couple of my other websites before it wasn’t a total shock, but still quite frustrating. Due to some very supportive bloggers I may have learned how to address the problem too. Doing so long term is another story though. So I’ll need to think about things more and decide what direction I really want to go in. As a result you may see some changes with my blog in the coming weeks. Some of it will be long term changes and some may be temporary fixes to appease the search engine. If concerned about any of it, do get in touch with me. Continue reading

So I’m not really sure of the plan this weekend. A lot will likely depend on the weather.

If it’s bad weather (which is normal for Vancouver this time of year), I figure we’ll probably just take it easy and relax at home. Maybe we’ll watch a movie or two and watch a bit of sports. Probably do some work on my blog too.

On the other hand, if we luck out and it’s nice weather I think we’ll probably go for a hike somewhere. Within an hour or two of the city there are so many awesome hiking trails to check out. I’ve only hiked a handful of them, but there’s plenty more to see. We probably would have done that last week if it wasn’t for my sore legs. So not I’m itching to get out there. This area is so scenic and it’s nice to take advantage.

Or maybe I’ll try to convince my girlfriend to play tennis with me again. We played last weekend and I guess it was a little…uh….uncompetitive ;) Maybe it’s best if I invite a friend a long to play too lol. I’m no tennis star, but some longer rallies are good. I’ll have to help her get some more practice. Continue reading

I hope everyone had a good Valentine’s Day. I’m writing this post a little early. So I hope mine went well, but with what I’ve got planned, I’m pretty sure it will. I won’t get into details though. I don’t want to make the other women out there jealous :)

Does anyone else care to share what you got up to for Valentine’s Day? I know there were some people out there that choose to have a quiet night and not celebrate or do something special on a different date.

Earlier this week, I had another session with my personal trainer. I have to say I paid the price for taking too long a break in between sessions. The first time I went I must’ve worked my legs a lot harder than normal or just didn’t stretch enough, because my legs were sore for days. On top of that I developed a sore throat. So not only did I put off booking another appointment, but I also didn’t get much exercise in between.

As a result the last workout was still pretty tough. I’m progressing, but still getting pretty winded. By the way, when I say personal trainer, this is more about just getting in shape rather than one who specializes in weight training. Continue reading

Today is my lucky day. Well technically the lucky day was earlier this week, but today I get to reap the benefits of that good luck. My girlfriend happened to score some free Canucks tickets from her employer. Since they’re the company seats they use to schmooze with clients and partners, I’m sure they’ll be awesome seats. I’m not picky though. I’d be happy even if they were the worst seats in the arena…it is free after all. And yeah, I love me some hockey.

The shitty part about it is that I think my girlfriend is coming down with the flu again. Hopefully she’s feeling well enough to enjoy the game. I’ll have to rub it in that her obsessive hygiene wasn’t enough to protect her. I scoff at her offers of berry scented hand sanitizer. Maybe I’m just self conscious but I don’t think a guy should smell like that. I especially don’t want my hands smelling like that while eating. And yes I will put my hands all over that railing that hundreds of people have touched today. Continue reading
