Early this year the 2013 edition of Modest Money’s Top Canadian Finance Blogs poll began. The poll started with over 80 blogs covering everything from general personal finance to debt to investing.

After about 3 months of voting, the first round of voting ended with a total of 4,793 votes from 3,829 voters. Amazingly one blog had 84% of the voters selecting them as one of their 5 favourite Canadian finance blogs. And no it wasn’t the blogger who dominated the 2012 poll.

For this poll the 1st round of voting does not carry over though. That way everyone can vote among the most popular blogs instead of just voting for their closest blogging friends. With this format the top 3 blogs should be much more accurate. Continue reading

Early in my blogging journey I decided to pay homage to my fellow Canadian finance bloggers. It’s not that I focus specifically on Canadian finance topics, but it just didn’t seem like there were any good lists of Canadian finance blogs out there.

So first I hosted a poll for the top Canadian personal finance blogs and later followed it up with a poll for the top Canadian investing blogs.

Even though my blog was relatively new, the polls were a big success and I got to know a lot of the Canadian finance bloggers out there. If you’re interested in seeing which Canadian blogs came out on top, here are the winners from both polls.

Now that my blog is more established I’m hosting these polls again and I’m quite interested to see how similar the results are. This time around there are some changes to the poll format. First of all, the poll for the top Canadian personal finance blogs also includes blogs dedicated to investing. Later there were also be a separate poll for the investing blogs. Continue reading

Top Canadian Finance Blog Nominations

Last year I hosted 2 polls to rate the top Canadian personal finance blogs and the top Canadian investing blogs.

It was fun connecting with all the Canadian bloggers and seeing whose followers were most supportive. Plus I was pretty happy with the amount of participation. So I’ll be hosting the polls again this year.

If you have a Canadian finance blog and want to be included in this year’s edition of the poll, shoot me an e-mail. If you were included in last year’s poll and published a post in the last month, you will be automatically included. In that case there is no need to e-mail me for inclusion. Continue reading
