5 Ways I’ve Wasted Money On Entertainment – Giveaway

Wasted Money On Entertainment

Over the years I’ve wasted my share of money
if not more. While my car was one of my biggest splurges, entertainment spending was close behind.

I may have grown up taking advantage of cheap entertainment, I can’t say that trend continued as I got older. Instead, as I got more money in my bank account, the more I justified spending money to keep myself happy.

Here are some specific types of entertainment that I wasted money on:

1) Concerts – I’ve always been really into music, but growing up in a small town did not make for very many opportunities to see live music. So when I moved to Vancouver for college, I was all over checking out all my favorite bands in person. Continue reading

The A-Z of Saving Money eBook Giveaway

A-Z of Saving Money eBook

Recently a blogger friend contacted me about helping promote his new ebook. The cool thing about this ebook is that it is a collaboration with numerous other personal. So I gladly agreed to help them out.

I have to admit there was a bit of jealousy on my part since the group of bloggers was almost all friends of mine. What, no Modest Money included?? Then again I know why I wouldn’t be. In the last several months I’ve been publishing far more guest posts than my own writing.

Also I’ve been declining a lot of writing gigs due to lack of time. So maybe I said no to them and I just don’t remember. I don’t think that was the case, but I’ll tell myself that to feel better ;)

Anyways, even though I’m not included, they’ve brought together some solid bloggers for this ebook. I’m sure it’s packed full of solid advice and awesome money saving tips. This ebook is titled The A-Z of Saving Money and retails for $14.99. Continue reading

Sometimes the most powerful lessons come early on in life. Maybe it’s because we are more impressionable at that age or maybe it’s just because we look back fondly upon those times. Regardless of the reason, those lessons stick with us for the rest of our lives and often shape who we are and how we perceive things.

Our early experiences with money are one of those things that can go a long way. If we learn the value of money and how to save, later in life we are a lot more likely to put a priority on sound money management. On the flipside, if we are allowed to squander money when we’re kids, guess what will probably come naturally to us when we’re older? Of course, things can change our views as we mature, but those early memories can have a bigger effect than you might think. Continue reading

Money Problems $999.99 Cash Giveaway Contest – How Job Stability Affects Finances

Last month I organized a $1000 cash giveaway on behalf of my employer. They offer a marketplace to sell structured settlements or annuities to help you get the most money possible.

For February they are providing a cash giveaway for $999.99. In honor of Jay-Z, the theme of this giveaway contest is 99 problems, specifically money problems.

I could probably list 99 money problems I’ve had over the years, but instead I’d like to focus on the biggest money problem I’m currently facing: having a job in an unstable industry.

In the past, people would secure a job with a company and work there for decades. These days that situation is rare. Instead people are frequently switching jobs and even completely changing careers. With certain industries this scenario is even more common. Sometimes it is just inevitable to see a higher rate of turnover and people jumping from company to company more often. Continue reading

Apple iPad3 Giveaway Contest

Apple iPad3 Giveaway Contest

To celebrate the holiday season, I’ve been doing extra giveaways this month. It’s just a small way to give back to fellow bloggers and readers of my blog. Ok…also the hardcore contest entering crowd. They can take part too.

For this contest I teamed up with some of my blogger friends to give away a really cool prize. This time we’ll be giving away….cue the drum roll…oh wait the post title and big image might have given it away. Ok well so much for the build up. So if you’re particularly intuitive, you can see that we’re giving away an Apple iPad3 tablet computer.

I don’t know about you, but that’s a prize I sure wouldn’t mind winning. You’d have to be pretty spoiled to get that as a Christmas gift.

Specifically we’re giving away the 32gb wifi model. You choose whether you want the white or black version. Or if that’s not good enough for you and you want the higher up model, we’re willing to accommodate if you pay the difference. Continue reading
