Unless you’re Greek, you’re probably a little confused by the title of this post and my half-assed Photoshop cropping job.

Apparently today is Greek Easter, or Greaster for short. I’m not Greek, so this is news to me.

My good friend Nick from Step Away From The Mall is Greek though and he founded this carnival. So he asked me to host his week’s Financial Simplicity Carnival so that he can spend the holiday with his family. I was happy to oblige and give this blog carnival hosting thing a try. Hopefully I didn’t offend him or any other Greek people by associating John Travolta with their holiday. If they had just had their Easter on the same day as everyone else, we could’ve avoided this travesty.

I did a little bit of reading about Greaster. It turns out they base their Easter off of a different calender, which leads it to sometimes fall on a different weekend than ‘western’ Easter. Also it sounds like they’re big on red dyed eggs, which seems a tad bit too symbolic for me. Mostly though it just seems like other holidays where it is a time for families to come together and enjoy some good food. Continue reading
