I previously used Quicken and the app a few years ago and enjoyed it, but it didn’t work the best. After an update the app wouldn’t sync correctly and often added the same entry multiple times causing me headache and frustration. I stopped using Quicken for a few years and recently came back. All issues between the mobile app and desktop have been fixed. It works for me without issue. It is so convenient to check my balance on the go, and to be able to add receipts immediately after purchase.

Like so many other people, I’ve tried at least a dozen budgeting apps. They all have pros and cons, of course, but in my experience they also have fatal flaws: poor account syncing, lack of customization, childish or whimsical graphics, gimmicky features, etc. I stayed away from Quicken for years just because it’s old and, I figured, clunky in comparison to new programs. What a mistaken judgment that has proven to be. Honestly folks, just get Quicken. Yes, it’s relatively expensive, but the few extra bucks you’ll pay per year are worth it. This is budgeting software for adults who care about accuracy, predictability, and transparency. I have only played with the mobile app for about an hour or so at this point, and I realize that other users have valid complaints about it, but the revelation for me is that these are minor issues that can be fixed or tolerated since the program as a whole is absolutely phenomenal. There are no fatal flaws here. All other budgeting programs therefore suffer from the same basic fallacy – they can’t improve on the original.

Quicken For Mac – Getting Better With Every Update
Reviewed in the United States on January 14, 2021

I’ve been a long, long time user of Quicken. Many years on Windows versions and the last 4 years on Quicken for Mac. When I 1st switched to Quicken for Mac, I was very disappointed with how much it lacked from the Windows version I was using. Features have been steadily added and while there are still features I miss, they are fewer and fewer. I no longer search for alternatives and don’t consider switching back to a Windows version.

Didn’t rate the Tech Support, because I’ve never had an issue where I haven’t found a solution in Quicken user forums.

Negative Quicken Reviews And Ratings

Overall, the reviews for Quicken are positive, but there are some complaints out there. Lets dig into some complaints and the merit behind them.

Used for 20+ years. Helps me keep track of Investments and to balance bank and credit card accounts. Don’t use the online features except to download investment prices. Have no opinion on how connecting to financial institutions performs. One complaint: Subscription is too pricey for the features I use, but I’m not switching now.

Complaining about the subscription cost is a common theme I found while reading user reviews. Previously, Quicken did not have a subscription model and this change upset some long time users. But the fact is, most of Quicken’s competitors have a monthly or yearly subscription model, so this shouldn’t be a determining factor in whether you decide to sign up or not.

Works well but cost is an issue

Love the program but increases in cost are concerning. Have used since 1992. This review outlines the increasing costs of Quicken. Although this might be true, it is also true with the majority of all products recently due to rising inflation. Rising costs is not a problem unique to Quicken.
