TheStreet Review 2023 | Is The Street Right for Me?
TheStreet can be a good source of information for just about any investor. To really reap the benefits of the site, however, you need to sign up for one of the subscription services.
On the one hand, there are relatively affordable subscriptions starting at $39.99/year. On the other hand, many of the more notable subscriptions will cost you hundreds (or even thousands) of dollars per year.
Depending on your needs and preferences, TheStreet’s subscription services may be right for you. Keep reading to learn more, including about how they work and what their top features are.
How Does TheStreet Work?
TheStreet, like its competitors The Motley Fool and Seeking Alpha, offers a wide range of investment advice and information. This helps drive traffic to its site, where it in turn aims to convert visitors into paying subscribers.
While it’s relatively simple to sign up and become a subscriber to one (or more) of TheStreet’s services, they don’t offer a ton of information about what is included. This is rather disappointing, especially considering many of these subscription options cost hundreds of dollars per year (or more).
In any case, once you sign up, you will receive exclusive member-only access to certain perks (depending on the subscription you have chosen). Action Alerts PLUS is their flagship offering, and the most popular, so we will focus on that one below.
Jim Cramer is a polarizing figure, but fans of his interested in TheStreet should note that he has not run the Action Alerts PLUS service since 2021, when TheStreet was acquired by The Arena Group. It is now run by Bob Lang and Chris Versace, who together have over 50 years’ experience in the financial industry.
TheStreet Action Alerts PLUS Features
As stated above, TheStreet offers many different subscription offerings, but this section will focus on the features provided by Action Alerts PLUS.
- Real-time trade alerts – Action Alerts PLUS delivers frequent trade alerts as they happen, which allow you to keep your portfolio aligned with the Action Alerts PLUS portfolio as it buys and sells.
- 24/7 access to the Action Alerts PLUS portfolio – Members have exclusive access to the Action Alerts PLUS portfolio, meaning they can keep up with an expert-run portfolio and choose to mimic any buying or selling they wish.
- Members-only calls each month – Live webinars exclusive to members provide insights and advice on every stock in the Action Alerts PLUS portfolio, each and every month.
TheStreet Pricing & Plans
Compared to its competitors, TheStreet offers a wide range of subscription services. Some are rather budget-friendly, while the most expensive costs nearly $3,000 per year.
Below you’ll find the cost (when billed annually) for five of TheStreet’s most popular subscriptions:
- TheStreet SMARTS | $39.99/year
- Retirement Daily | $99.99/year
- Action Alerts PLUS | $199.99/year
- Top Stocks | $499.99/year
- Real Money Pro | $799.99/year
Is TheStreet Worth It?
TheStreet may be worth it for investors who would like expert advice when it comes to portfolio management and stock picking. Given the wide range of subscriptions, there’s something for everyone, from crypto heads to long-term investors heading for retirement.
While there’s no doubt that the team running TheStreet has a solid track record, its customer support has not received high marks in online user ratings. In fact, many customers complain about difficulty canceling their subscriptions. On the other hand, TheStreet has an A+ rating from the Better Business Bureau.
In any case, TheStreet has subscription offers that will help just about any investor. Click here to check it out for yourself so you can see if it might be the right service for you.
